Layered Sculptures

In this series, I explore the notion of change and permanence existing together, in the way that we, as people are able to change, and yet remain distinctly ourselves. Similarly, a river’s path is changed by the rocks; the rocks are slowly changed by the river. Yet they both still remain: river and rocks.

Transport Vessels

This series is based on my thoughts of clay, especially considering its historic role as a vessel for transporting goods and ideas across cultural boundaries for centuries.

Today, living in the port city of Long Beach, I observe the daily transfer of cultural hopes and dreams via a wide variety of ships, trucks and containers.

In this work, I am using the forms of these trucks and trains as a starting point to explore both the containment and exchange of ideas and hopes, on a personal and cultural level.
